Astaxanthin is the strongest known antioxidant, ie. it helps eliminate free radicals. It has significant anti-inflammatory effects (even on the silent inflammation). Most problems in the body are caused by oxidative stress (free radicals) or chronic inflammation. Astaxanthin belongs to the carotenoid group.

Astaxanthin is currently produced from seven different sources. As evident from the table (see below), the Haematococcus pluvialis alga contains the highest concentration of Astaxanthin. Haematococcus pluvialis is currently the only type of alga cultivated by Algamo s.r.o.

- Natural Astaxanthin is extracted from living microalga as compared to synthetic Astaxanthin which is manufactured from petrochemicals or petrochemical derivatives.
- Natural Astaxanthin has higher biological activity than synthetic Astaxanthin.
- Natural Astaxanthin is 20 to 50 times stronger than synthetic Astaxanthin.
- Natural Astaxanthin is safe for human and animal use.
- Synthetic Astaxanthin has never been tested for safety in human use.
- Synthetic Astaxanthin is not allowed for human use.
Hundreds of peer-reviewed articles, published in reputable medical research journals, together with more than forty clinical trials and studies have confirmed the safety and efficacy of Astaxanthin.
At extreme doses (50mg/day) skin pigmentation may increase.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult the use of Astaxanthin with their doctor. We do not recommend Astaxnthin for children under 12 years.
Our production and technology
Here at Algamo s.r.o. we produce natural Astaxanthin extracted from Haematococcus Pluvialis alga. Cultivation starts in laboratory conditions, continues through laboratory photo-bioreactors and micro-modules from where it is sent to production photo-bioreactors (production phase). The whole process is completely system-controlled from the beginning to the end. Besides, by using green energy and heat from a neighbouring biomass power plant it is also Eco-friendly. We have our own source of quality groundwater. Regular monitoring of cultivation conditions during all phases of the production cycle by professional employees at our state-of-the-art laboratory is standard practice.

Manufacturing company Algamo s.r.o. was established in 2011. The company specializes in algae cultivation and subsequent active substances extraction. These active substances are used in the cosmetic industry, pharmaceutical industry and in food supplements production. The production plant is based in the “Krkonoše” mountains foothills in the Czech Republic, approximately 130 km northeast of Prague.
Corporate vision
The company’s goal is an eco-friendly production of highly-active natural products. We believe that even a tiny contribution to ecology will make a huge profit not only for us but for future generation in particular. The company invests its effort in building a friendly work environment and working conditions and pays a lot of attention to subsequent staff development.
History
The limited liability company Algamo s.r.o. was established in 2011 in the Czech Republic and is a producer and supplier of Haematococcus pluvialis alga and astaxanthin oleoresin. The products are sold under the trademark ALGASTIN®.
